Project Date: February 2022

When I first dreamed of adding to my home, I hoped to find an architect who was experienced and well regarded within the local community.  I wanted to work with someone who would bring a fresh vision and perspective to my dream home. Michael delivered on all accounts. He is easy to work with and always available - quick to reply to requests via email, phone or text.  This is a factor of utmost importance because developing architectural plans is an ongoing process.  I have always felt comfortable reaching out to Michael. As regards to his technical skill, his many years of experience are evident.  Michael was able to guide me, explaining what was (or was not) possible. His drawings are precise and easy for builders and decorators to reference. Once plans were finalized, Michael was able to introduce me to contractors and other individuals necessary to manage the build-out - he helped to make the entire process seamless. I would highly recommend Michael.  He is the consummate professional.

Michael helped us design a garage/studio. Essentially it is a 2 car garage with a lean-to porch in the back, a space for utility vehicles/bikes and an upstairs we use as a gym/office/living area.  Michael listened to our ideas, walked the project site with us, and used his creativity and expertise to design a beautiful structure. He was always prompt with deadlines and patient and encouraging of all of our crazy ideas.  We are extremely happy with how the project turned out – we had a great partnership with him. He brought to the table great ideas/vision! We highly recommend Michael Chojnicki as an architect for future projects.

Michael Chojnicki came highly recommended to us when we were looking for an architect to help us with an addition to our 1860s farmhouse. He absolutely did not disappoint. He listened and was able to take our ideas to create a fabulous living space that looks like it was always there! He was also able to help us find the right craft-men from around the area. We couldn’t be happier and will use him again for our next adventure.

Michael was instrumental in converting 20 acres of woods on 450 feet of lakefront into a 5,000 sq. ft. four seasons country home/paradise. From the moment I met Michael for the first time, I was confident I was in good hands navigating a complicated process. Not only did Michael design a beautiful home, on the inside, but also was incredibly helpful with his creativity for site plan design. Michael was very responsive to our input and together we made a great team. Michael is wonderful to work with due to his accommodating personality. He also has great knowledge of energy options and features which allowed us to build an energy efficient home. I highly recommend Michael for any type of architectural design. He is a delight and very, very capable.

I required a unique approach for my architectural needs during the 2021-22 building season. Michael graciously accepted me into his very tight and already heavy schedule. We worked as a team to draw and complete the design. Michael was incredibly accommodating, facilitating a smooth and streamlined process. His knowledge and experience is extensive, the depth of his advice refined; and it became crucial as the details of the project unfolded. I will always seek out Michael Chojnicki for any architectural services I need in the future. Michael is a pleasure to work with; precise, clear in his approach and timely in delivery. You can have complete confidence in his services.

Project Date: May 2020

Liz and I are both artists and a few years ago as we looked at spending our lives up here full time, we started to dream of having our own studio/workshop/playhouse somewhere on our land. Our dream probably couldn’t have been much less practical - modern, but traditional; natural, but technologically up-to-date; hand crafted, but airtight and cost effective, with a relatively limited budget. Michael not only made our dream come true, but he found us a magnificent crew to build it for us and took care of all our permitting and code and municipality by-laws. Our STUDIO ON THE RIVER is beyond our dreams. Also because of the way Michael made it fit into the mountain makes even our land look more beautiful. We loved doing the project with him, as much as the end results. Thank you Michael.

We worked with Michael on an extension to our cottage in 2019. We enjoyed our partnership with him, he took the time to listen to our vision for this new space and was extremely thoughtful in his design plans. And he never hesitated to make changes as we reviewed the drawings and brought some new ideas to him. The end result is an addition which blends in architecturally with our existing home and we could not be more pleased with how it turned out. We can highly recommend Michael as someone who is easy to work with, he listens and askes good questions as he guides you through the process of design.

Project Date: January 2019, October 2004

Michael has designed two homes for our family, and we could not be happier with both. The homes are

architecturally beautiful and perfectly functional. But what set him apart from other architects was his

ability to listen to our vision, and then bring it to life – only better! His thoughtful/kind demeanor made

the experience fun and exciting. We strongly recommend Michael for all his architectural services!

Project Date: January 2021-present

We have been working with Michael on a rebuild of the two-story horse barn on our Eldred property that we had converted to a guest house years ago. We came to Michael with our ideas how to expand and upgrade the building and he took those thoughts and turned them into reality - a beautiful, detailed, energy-efficient design plan. Working with him is a dream; he is creative, collegial and considerate.  The COVID pandemic has  delayed the start of construction but we look forward to beginning this spring, with Michael guiding us and collaborating with our builder every step of the way. We offer our strongest endorsement of the talented architect Michael Chojnicki.

Project Date: 2022

After owning our property on the Delaware River for 20 years, we decided it was time to build.  The 20 years gave us time to think about what we wanted in a home, and how our needs and desires have changed during that time.  We are now empty nesters, avid travelers, and have a deep desire to work towards sustainably.

We summarized our thoughts and goals in a written document and included a rough sketch of a floor plan that we thought would work for our needs.  Shortly after, Michael sent us a rough pencil sketch of the outside and inside floorplan. He got it right with his first cut. He took our ideas, improved upon them, and made it into something real.  From that initial sketch to the final plan, very little has changed. That is how well he got it on the first try.

We had fun bouncing ideas back and forth regarding ways to reduce the carbon footprint of this home. Michael is very knowledgeable in this area. With these ideas and advancements in technology, we will eliminate the need for fossil fuels in our home.

Michael is a pleasure to work with. We would highly recommend him and his services.

MJ Chojnicki did several projects for me and all of them turned out remarkably well. Michael is a wonderfully creative and carefully precise architect and designer. He managed to design buildings that considered my needs, goals and taste and at the same time created spaces that were both beautiful and functional. He architected my home and my restaurant. Afterwards he designed a Pavilion that became the centerpiece of the town. The firm is wonderful to work with, supportive, dependable and competent. I highly recommend them.

Client: Dario Sacramone

Project Date: June 1999

Michael designed and oversaw the construction of a 1000 sq.ft. Addition to a 900 sq. ft.1860 farm house. The addition included a gourmet kitchen, dining room, master suite with full bath, artist's studio. He also designed a sunroom, with an adjacent mudroom, along with more renovations and an additional bathroom to the original farm house structure. He incorporated old materials with new elements, respecting the original, while enhancing it.  Michael was totally attentive to our needs and worked with us to create mutually a beautiful and very functional addition. It is 16yrs. old and has had no construction problems whatsoever having survived the challenging weather conditions in the mountains of northeast PA.  Friends who knew and loved the original appeal of the home have frequently commented on how Michael understood its site, and creatively found ways to build upon its ambience.  Easy to work with, we found our dream house become a realization through his inspiration and sense of design. We recommend him highly and without reservation.

Project Date: October 2013

When we decided to build an extension on our 1850's farmhouse, we were fortunate to connect with Michael Chojnicki. Designing and executing the project was a truly wonderful experience. Michael is a really good listener and was able to propose great ideas, always sensitive to our personal vision of our home. During the construction he was readily available and open to tweaking and modifying along the way. Our builder deemed him the "most helpful architect" he'd ever worked with. All of our concerns were successfully addressed. The transition from the old to the new is a graceful one, the "largeness" of the new room is softened by a coffered ceiling and well placed windows provide wonderful light and views. Moreover the whole process was great fun.

Project Date: June 2008

Michael was our architect in design/construction of our barn/guesthouse. He was a delight to work with and the project required much imagination to work to make an old structure into a modern guesthouse yet retain the look and feel of a historic barn.

Client: JG Sullivan

Project Date: September 2014

We hired Michael to design an addition to our lake house. He is very easy to work with and brought many creative ideas to the project that not only delivered our desired goal, but also enhanced the beauty and efficiency of our home. Michael communicates and listens very well. His "laid back" attitude promotes dialog that brings consensus in decision making. Michael also has long experience in integrating "Green" elements that increase efficiency without demanding austerity. We are very pleased with both his design savvy and his low key easy approach in designing exactly what we wanted (even when we weren't exactly sure of what we wanted).
Lastly, Michael is well known and liked in the construction world. He recommended a handful of contractors to us and helped us sort through the numbers to make sense of the quality and value in each. We selected one of his recommended builders and have had a very good experience. We recommend Michael without reservation, he is a professional, friendly and excellent architect.

Client: Ruth Wooden

Project Date: May 2013

Michael designed and really helped oversee construction of a small pool house for me. Michael is both talented and business like, a rare combination. He delivers everything on time, he considers options to keep costs in line, and he works exceptionally well with the construction teams. Because this was a project done at a distance for me, I really counted on Michael to check on things and I could always count on him. His suggestions were always better than anything I could think up -- and the house is a little jewel in the Catskills, and tight as a drum during the coldest weather! Very well built and really charming...
I would work with Michael again in a minute.

Michael Chojnicki took my one bedroom river cottage and turned it into a beautiful 4 bedroom Bed and Breakfast. The upstairs bathroom is unbelievably beautiful. You sit in a claw bathtub and look out over the river. He has done great projects in NYC as well as upstate NY.

Client: Dan Brinkerhoff

Project Date: June 2013

I Hired Michael Chojnicki as my architect in 2013.He did all the drawings on my 20 by 40 foot commercial building. We discussed everything in advance and made a couple of changes in the plans when I changed my mind several times. We now have a completed building, things went smoothly as planned. Michael is a very competent and imaginative man and I enjoyed the experience.

Client: Amy F.

Project Date: September 2011

Michael designed a 1000 sq.ft. addition to our house for an indoor lap pool which required the modification of our living room to creatively interface with the addition. The construction site was challenging because of a steep hill therefore Michael created a design which, among other things, stepped down the roofline to best match the existing house and minimized the exposed foundation. He was especially helpful as a liaison between us and the various contractors.
From his initial consultation to project completion he gave us his time and expertise as needed so that we got exactly what we wanted.
Michael is well known in this community for his commitment to environmentally friendly design and construction.
We would recommend his services without reservation.
